Texas A&M is known for its tradition, tight-knit community and passionate fans. A couple of local Aggies are living their dream after opening their store, Whoop U, the ultimate Aggie merchandise store.
Like most Aggies, Texas A&M alumni Stacy and Nathan Leonard, hold their alma mater in high regard and are passionate about the school, people and community. "We love the school, and we wanted a place in Houston that could represent the spirit of Aggieland," Nathan Leonard said. "Our goal is to be a cultural center of Aggieland in Houston."
The name, Whoop U, is a nod to one of A&M’s most recognizable traditions. Stacy said there’s no doubt what the store is about. "If you're an Aggie, you know right away it's an Aggie store," she said. Even the date they opened, December 12 (12/12), was symbolic of the 12th Man.
The Leonards said that they’ve gotten great feedback so far. "The first reaction we get is, it's a beautiful store," Nathan said. "The store gives off a very positive vibe, and it's a very family oriented atmosphere."
Whoop U is located just off Highway 290 and Barker Cypress and is open Monday-Saturday from 10am-8pm and Sundays from noon-6pm.
