Technology is beautiful when it works. We can instantly send messages to friends and family across the globe from a mobile phone smaller than the palm of our hand. That type of power should make communicating with our community effortless, and Cy-Fair ISD plans to do just that.
Parents of Towne Lake will soon gain access to CFISD’s new district-wide notification system that will alert community members to important district news in the case of a major emergency. This new system, named School Messenger, promises to deliver increased response times via SMS text messaging, phone calls and a free mobile application for more tech-savvy individuals.
“The number one complaint after there’s been an emergency is that people are complaining about a delay in notification,” said Nicole Ray, CFISD assistant superintendent for communication and community relations. “That breeds misinformation, and then you have parents and community members upset and stories floating out there…This system will allow us to own the information we put out there so it’s true, accurate and timely.”
This new notification system has reassured families of CFISD’s commitment to safety and is set to launch soon. And in today’s world, soon can’t come soon enough.
