The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Board of Trustees announced the namesakes for Elementary School Nos. 53 and 54 and Middle School No. 18 during their meeting.
Elementary School No. 53 is named after Margie Sue Pope, who retired from Cy-Fair ISD in 2004 after 18 1/2 years with the school district. Elementary School No. 54 is named after Sadie Woodard, who retired from Cy-Fair ISD in 2008 after 39 years with the district. Woodward was a dedicated educator with a passion for students and their success, both before and after graduation. Middle School No. 18 is named after Dr. David Anthony, who retired from Cy-Fair ISD in 2011 after seven years with the district.
These educators were shining stars during their illustrious careers, role models to many educators and students. Dr. Anthony who served as a superintendent of schools throughout the Texas Public Education System for 24 years of his career said, “I consider Cy-Fair ISD to be the holy grail of public school districts in Texas, and it’s because of all the great people in it. I’m receiving this award because the people here taught me how to be a better superintendent by the time that I left than I was when I first arrived.”
