In recent years, Houston has gained tons of press for its growing population and great restaurants thanks to a strong, thriving economy. People and food go hand-in-hand, and this symbiotic relationship is creating significant opportunities for independent restaurants across Greater Houston.
The Towne Lake community is reaping the benefits of this residential influx with new bars and restaurants setting up shop in the area. Facon Brazilian Steakhouse opened in Vintage Park last month serving up prime meats and delicious tapas with a variety of lunch options.
“The tapas menu is very eclectic and outside the box,” said general manager Tony Nicoletta. Traveling coast to coast has given Nicoletta years of experiences and inspiration to develop and critique recipes.
In addition to meals inspired from kitchens across the country, Cypress will also see more local restaurants. “In the industry itself there is a trend toward wanting more local, homegrown and diverse dining opportunities as the consumer’s tastes have gotten more sophisticated and metro areas have gotten more diverse,” said Wendy Saari, vice president of marketing and communication for the Texas Restaurant Association.
Black’s Market Table, which will be centered around locally-sourced, seasonal and fresh fare, is expected open next month at 11550 Louetta Road. Bart and Rachele Black, the culinary couple behind it, “…wanted to do something local in our community,” explained Rachele. Black’s Market Table will have a foundational menu that will change two or three times per year, as well as a chalkboard menu that will be updated frequently with ingredients coming from local farmers’ markets. “We want to pay homage to the event of eating,” said Rachele.
The owners of d’Vine Wine Bar are also opening a new farm-to-table restaurant in Cypress, Hanan’s Cafe. Partner Amy Valasquez elaborated on the new venture by saying it will be, “…a new concept to Cypress with a gourmet coffee experience and breakfast, lunch and dinner options that represent the farm-to-table experience.” Hanan’s Cafe is due to open early next year.
There’s plenty of reason to be excited about the new dining options popping up around the Towne Lake community in the near future. Which one are you most looking forward to visiting?
