Express Children’s Theatre is Houston’s oldest and largest performing and arts education organization dedicated specifically to children and families. This holiday season they celebrate their twenty second anniversary of performing arts designed to entertain families.
This Christmas, playwright Alvaro Saar Rios gives a fairy a monumental task in Holiday Wishes! The story portrays two children who are dissatisfied with the mountain of gifts they receive under the tree. To teach them the true meaning of Christmas, generosity and gratitude, the fairy takes them on a series of adventures. Consider this brilliant play an adaptation of A Christmas Carol. Instead of ghosts, Rios creates the fairy to impart the meaning of Christmas in a jovial fun filled play. Show times are Friday November 29 at 2pm and Friday December 6, 13, and 20 at 2pm in the Express Theatre, 446 Northwest Mall, Hempstead Road at North Post Oak. Tickets are $8 each.
The Express Children’s Theatre is the proud recipient of two Austin Circle of Drama Awards, three B. Iden Payne awards for children’s theatre, and a cover story in Stage Directions magazine. The Children’s Hilltop Festival produced at Miller Theatre each summer was named the 2010 Best Theatre Production for Children by Houston Press.
