Houston-based David Weekley Homes was named 2013 Builder of the Year by Professional Builder magazine.
It’s the second time David Weekley Homes has received the honor, making it one of only two builders to be recognized twice in the contest’s 48 years. The company was first named Builder of the Year in 1990. The winner is selected by the magazine’s editors, with additional input from a select group of industry professionals.
“Being named Builder of the Year twice in our company’s history is a true reflection of our team members’ dedication to proving our customers with the highest standard of excellence in the home building industry,” said David Weekley, chairman of David Weekley Homes.
The award honors the company’s ability to flourish and grow despite challenging economic times for builders, Weekley said. The company recently added three new markets: Phoenix, Salt Lake City and Indianapolis. Houston Business Journal recently reported that builders are finding innovative ways to meet local market challenges, such as lot shortages, rising costs and lack of workers.
Over the past 37 years, David Weekley Homes has built more than 70,000 homes and has received numerous awards, including being named as one of the top 50 brands in America by J.D. Power and Associates last year. David Weekely Homes is ranked as the sixth largest Houston-area homebuilder with $230.5 million in 2012 local gross revenue, according to Houston Business Journal Research.
