Suspense, secrets and chilling screams are hallmarks of our modern thriller tales. They are best told on cold dark nights. This Halloween, make your way to the Houston Family Arts Center for the world’s original thriller, And Then There Were None.
This play is an adaption of the best-selling work by none other than the Mistress of Mystery herself, Agatha Christie. Originally written in 1939, And Then There Were None was the first thriller of its kind and now stands as the basis for most of our modern thriller films.
The plot is simple and unfolds like a typical round of Clue. Ten strangers are invited to an island by an unknown host, and each guest has a dangerous secret they are determined to keep – even at the cost of death. Everything slowly and intricately turns to havok as secrets and dastardly deeds are unwillingly revealed.
This spine-tingling show will run from October 17th through November 9th. Director Ananka Kohnitz presents the play in the true film-noir style, full of hidden figures in the dark and whispering intrigue. Performances are on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm with Sunday matinees at 3pm at the HFAC Garza Mainstage. Tickets are available online at houstonfac.com, or by phone at 281-587-6100.
