Swimming can help keep you young, fit, and stress free. No really.
This summer we’re seeing a large increase of families taking full advantage of the pools and splash pads. It gives kids room to explore and build confidence while burning off all of that pent up energy that can occur during the summer months.
But swimming isn’t just for kids. Adults benefit as well when partaking in activities in the water. Here are some things to consider:
Did you know that water is about 800 times more dense than air? It’s true. Every move you make while in the wonderful waters here at Towne Lake, you’re burning more calories.
And because water helps to support up to 90% of your body weight, people with arthritis, disabilities, or other body ailments can still get their full body workouts in. Try using different strokes and varying your movements to target different muscle groups.
Tension. Depression. Anger. These are all things that have been shown to decrease after swimming. We’re guessing that you can get these benefits from a good book lounging by the pool as well but we’re not scientists, just optimists.
Throw in some vitamin D (essential for bone health) from the sun’s rays and you’ve got the makings of a great summer. Just, don’t forget the sunscreen.
