Thousands of feet will hit the streets of Towne Lake, Caldwell Companies’ northwest Houston community connected by water, at the 2013 Northwest Harris County Heart Walk on Saturday, Nov. 2. Participants will join together in support of the American Heart Association (AHA) and its mission to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans.
The course for the non-competitive 5k walk will begin at Lone Star College CyFair, located at 9191 Barker Cypress Rd. The course will then lead walkers throughout the Towne Lake community, taking them by waterfalls, over bridges, down trails and around the largest private recreational lake in Houston. The opening ceremony will kick off at 8:30 a.m., and the walk will begin at 9:30 a.m.
AHA will use the donations collected at the walk to help fund medical research and the treatment of patients fighting heart disease and stroke. According to AHA, heart disease claims more than 813,800 lives annually.
“Towne Lake and Caldwell Companies fully support the mission of the American Heart Association,” said Kent Puckett, vice president of operations, developments at Caldwell Cos. “Heart Disease and its related illnesses affect millions of people, and we believe in AHA’s commitment to improving lives through advancements in research and its programs to promote healthy living.”
Towne Lake would like to thank Terry Wheeler, CEO of Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center and Northwest Harris County Heart Walk Event Chairman for his contributions to the event, in additional to Kroger, who will donate water to the participants.
