Helping A Hero partners with Towne Lake and Chesmar Homes for latest project
CYPRESS, TEXAS (November 20, 2013) – Ground has broken on a new home for wounded veteran Marine Cpl. Raul Olivares and his family in The Greene at Towne Lake. Caldwell Companies donated the home site and Houston-based Helping a Hero (HAH) is partnering with Chesmar Homes to build a new home for the wounded veteran.
Olivares was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) while engaged in combat in Afghanistan in 2010, leaving him with severe injuries to both of his legs. After numerous surgeries, today his legs are considered salvageable, although they may need amputation in the future.
Chesmar’s HAH home will be designed with wheelchair-accessible amenities to accommodate Olivares, his wife and three children. The single-story home will feature four bedrooms and 2 ½ bathrooms.
“It is our honor to give back to a true hero who has sacrificed so much in service to our great country,” said Peter Barnhart, executive vice president and partner of Caldwell Cos. “We look forward to celebrating with the Olivares family on move-in day in Towne Lake as they start this next chapter in their lives.”
Towne Lake recently broke ground for a new home to be built for Marine Cpl. Raul Olivares and his family. The community has partnered with Chesmar Homes and Helping a Hero on the project.
