The first annual Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Community Expo will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Berry Center, offering parents and guardians with a series of helpful back-to-school services in one convenient location. “This expo will provide a great opportunity for the community to see another facet of our chamber,” said Leslie Martone, president of the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce, “the committee was formed to help keep our area and chamber members informed on matters of community interest; such as safety, emergency services, healthcare and sustainability practices.” If you are interested in getting involved please contact the chamber office for details.
The Community Expo is open exclusively to incoming CFISD students and families, and will include services such as:
- online registration in English and Spanish
- a birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency are required;
- immunizations, please bring shot records;
- employment opportunities, including transportation, food service, operations, community programs, substitute office, Berry Center, human resources and support staff;
- CHIP/SNAP/food stamp applications;
- athletic physicals; and
- Club Rewind registration.
Additional booths will be set up throughout the Berry Center for transportation, food service, Club Rewind and health services.
“We are thrilled to bring the first annual Community Expo to families who are new to our school district in one central location,” said Dave Schrandt, CFISD director for student services/admission. “The Community Expo will bring the Cy-Fair community together through the help of our business partners, who have the mutual goal of assisting families with the information and resources they need.”
Representatives from the Harris Health System will provide immunizations at no cost to families who have CHIP, Medicaid, a Gold Card or no health insurance. Community Health Choice will provide assistance with filling out CHIP and SNAP applications. The Houston Food Bank’s Kraft Healthy Food Truck will be on hand to distribute 10,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to qualifying participants. Memorial Hermann Hospital representatives will be on site to provide athletic physicals for $25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
