New home displays unique design, raises money for charity
Towne Lake, Caldwell Companies’ northwest Houston community connected by water, recently joined Morning Star Builders and the Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce in celebration of the groundbreaking of its new Southern Living Custom Builder Showcase Home. The home is being built by Morning Star Builders, one of three Greater Houston area members of the Southern Living Custom Builder Program. The showcase home will be valued at more than $1 million and will be located in Water’s Edge, the prestigious custom home neighborhood within Towne Lake.
Morning Star’s single-story home will span 5,300 square feet and feature stunning lake views throughout 75 percent of the home. Additional features include four bedrooms, four full bathrooms, two powder rooms and a four-car garage. Construction is due for completion in the spring of 2014.
Special design elements in the Southern Living Custom Builder Showcase Home include a barrel ceiling with fiber optic lighting in the entryway, vaulted kitchen ceiling with exposed beams and solar powered skylights with wireless remote control, game room overlooking an expansive lanai, caterer’s kitchen with extra storage and second dishwasher, energy-efficient tankless water heaters and more.

The home will be open for public tours during a two-month period. Ticket sales will benefit Operation Finally Home, an organization that supports wounded veterans and their families, and HomeAid - Houston, an organization affiliated with the Greater Houston Builders Association that provides housing and support for Houston’s homeless community. Morning Star anticipates seeing upwards of 6,000 visitors tour the home next spring.
