Construction of the Barker Cypress Bridge at 290 is officially over.
Williams Brothers Construction finished the project ahead of schedule and just in time for the start of classes at Cy-Fair ISD schools Monday. Karen Othon, spokeswoman for the U.S. 290 project said lane markings were painted and traffic lights activated just this past weekend.
The completion of construction is good news for Cypress residents. During the summer, construction constantly caused lane closures and increased traffic for travelers on U.S. 290.
Although the overall 290 project completion date is still a ways off, the completion of this portion of the project is a small win as it offers some traffic relief.
Residents can track further 290 project progress on my290.com to be better prepared for future construction and lane closures.
