The Cypress Woods High School Crimson Cadettes drill team raised more than $3,000 to fight breast cancer through a “Pass the Boot” fundraiser last week.
Drill team members collected the donations by walking around the school and in the stands during the third quarter of the Wildcats’ October 19 football game. All of the proceeds will be donated to Friends Thru the Fight, an organization dedicated to serving Galveston County residents who are receiving care locally and are in the midst of a battle with breast or gynecological cancer. Crimson Cadettes director Lauren Reilly and assistant director Ashtyn Burttschell chose to support this cause to fight breast cancer, a disease that has touched the lives of more than 2.4 million women living in the United States, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“I am so proud of the Cadettes for all of their effort and their willingness to give and help others,” Reilly said. “I am also so pleased with the help we received from the Cy Woods community. Everyone was so helpful in giving to this great cause. The Cy Woods community and Cadettes really showed how compassionate they are and how willing they are to help others.”
